We’re about halfway through September and summer is still here in the sunny emirate of Sharjah. With day temperatures in the high 30 degree (°C) to low 40 degree (°C) range, it is essential to stay hydrated. There’s nothing more refreshing than a glass of ice cold water on a hot summer day.
Inspired by my husband’s love of iced lemon water, I gave these easy citrus ice cubes a go. We all know citrus fruits are rich in Vitamin C, but did you know the content in Vitamin C help reduce high body temperatures? A good reason to stock up on lemons and oranges!
What You’ll Need:
Any Citrus Fruit
Ice Cube Tray
Begin by zesting your fruits and set aside. Cut and juice your fruits. Use a 1:3 ratio of juice and water and mix well. Insert one to two mint leaves and add a pinch of zest into each cube of your mould. Pour the juice mixture in and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.
I recommend adding three to four ice cubes per glass of water. Add less if you want a subtler taste of lemon. You know you’re doing something right when your husband is increasing his water intake! Be sure to make plenty of these flavoured ice cubes. (They run out fast).
